Described by Paul Frère as ‘virtually a road-legal version of the Carrera Cup model’, Porsche’s 964-generation 911 Carrera RS quickly proved to be one of the most remarkable Porsches of its era, thanks to Porsche’s strict adherence towards increased weight savings and performance. Fitting the Type M64/03 Fiat six-cylinder engine with a lightened flywheel improved engine response, and power was managed through a G50/10 five-speed manual transmission with closer ratios and steel synchronizers. After being lowered by 40 mm from the standard 964 ride height, lightweight aluminum was used for the bonnet, and thinner glass was utilized for some of the windows. As a result, the Carrera RS tipped the scales at a paltry 1,230 kg.

Built for its native German market, this 911 Carrera RS was delivered new through Porsche Zentrum Wiesbaden in January of 1992, resplendent in its current and seldom-seen shade of Rubystone Red. There it would remain with its original owner until it was sold to the second owner, an Austrian Porsche collector in long pursuit of a totally original Carrera RS, in May of 2015 at 46,340 km. Over the course of the next three years, the car was driven only 800 kilometres, ensuring that its exceptional and highly original condition was retained.

In 2018 the Carrera RS was acquired by Mr Sáragga, and since then the car has accumulated less than 200 km and is showing just 47,200 km from new. Its Rubystone Red paintwork still shines brightly, and the matching interior presents beautifully throughout, in accordance with its exceptionally low mileage.

The spiritual successor to Porsche’s iconic 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7, the 964-generation Carrera RSs are truly exceptional cars to drive in every regard. Low-mileage, unmolested examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and as such, this example is one to be cherished.
