This 356A
We are delighted to offer this exceptional 1959 Porsche 356A T2 'Super' Sunroof Coupe, presented in its original and highly desirable color combination of Schwarz (Black) over Red leatherette. Delivered new to the United States, this example benefits from a meticulous nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration completed in Italy in 2009. The car remains in near-new condition, having seen minimal use since the restoration.
The body has been refinished in its original factory color, verified by both the chassis tag and accompanying KARDEX. The interior has been retrimmed to an equally high standard in striking red leatherette, with all components either restored or replaced to concours-level quality.
One of the most distinctive and rare features of this 356 A is its sunroof, which operates flawlessly. The car is fitted with U.S.-specification bumper overriders; however, the internal body supports were intentionally omitted during the restoration, allowing the new owner the option to remove them for a cleaner European look.
Originally delivered with a 1600S engine, this 356A Super is now equipped with a rebuilt 1.6L '1600 S' engine from 1960, delivering the iconic 75 horsepower that defined the factory 'Super' spec. Since the rebuild, the engine has seen only minimal use, and the car remains in outstanding mechanical condition — ready to be driven and enjoyed. Power is delivered through the matching '716' gearbox.
The car comes equipped with upgraded aftermarket disc brakes, providing enhanced stopping power and improved performance. The original drum brakes are also included with the car for those interested in maintaining its classic configuration.
The car comes with comprehensive photo record detailing the rotisserie restoration, the current Belgian registration document, the KARDEX factory build sheet. Presented in what is arguably one of the most eye-catching and elegant color combinations, this Porsche 356 A T2 is a superb example for the discerning collector. Beautifully restored and rare in specification, it offers a compelling opportunity to acquire a true icon of Porsche history.
