Porsche made minor changes to the 356 A in 1957, with the original batch of cars introduced in 1955 subsequently referred to as “T1” models and those with the mid-cycle updates called “T2”. Different lighting elements and exhaust pipes that exited through the rear bumper overriders set T2 models apart, but the most significant changes were mechanical: swapping Solex for Zenith carburettors and replacing roller-bearing crankshafts used in some engine variants with standard-bearing units.

This 356 A was the 60th example of the 1600 Speedster produced for 1958, according to chassis number data compiled by The 356 Porsche—A Restorer’s Guide to Authenticity. A copy of its original Kardex indicates that the car was dispatched on 21 January 1958 to Stinnes, Mülheim, destined for Canada. It came finished from the factory in Ruby Red over Black faux leather and equipped with United States-specification bumpers.

The vendor, a marque specialist well-known within the Porsche and motorsports communities in Germany, acquired the Speedster in 2025 and undertook a comprehensive engine and gearbox restoration. Prior to this, the exterior was restored in factory-correct Ruby Red and the interior in tan leather with a matching-colour soft-top. Replete with its matching-numbers chassis and engine, the Speedster presents with obvious attention to detail throughout.

Accompanied by a copy of its Kardex, Porsche certificate, tools, and removable side windows with storage pouch, this exemplary Speedster is now offered for its next fortunate caretaker to enjoy.
