Description
"Serial number 7P201089
Rare convertible
Original French
French title
Inspired by Ferrari and its 250 GTO, Pontiac executives, including John DeLorean, took up the name to launch what would become one of the most emblematic muscle cars: the Pontiac GTO. Thus, in 1963, research began to make the Tempest a true sports car. Tests were carried out with 5.3L engines, then 6.4L and finally 6.9L. Finally, the 6.4L was chosen for the production car. As soon as it was launched in 1964, the GTO was a great success and orders were numerous. As time went on, the GTO underwent subtle changes, mainly to improve its performance, the gearbox and axle ratios were modified, the suspension was revised, as was the braking. The whole offered incredible performances for the time with a 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.
Rare example sold new in France, this GTO convertible is in a nice used condition; its grey paint and black hood echoing the rims makes the whole car tense and aggressive. Perfect for cruising, the automatic gearbox of our example also allows for strong acceleration because the GTO is above all a sports car with a truck-like torque in which 4 adults can sit with their hair blowing in the wind, enjoying the vocalizations of the V8. Take advantage of a rarity on our roads and stand out from the Mustangs at American gatherings."
