Rare, unrestored, originally Dutch-delivered 1961 Plymouth Fury Convertible from its second owner, complete with Square Wheel, Philips record player and full documentation. The car has covered just 95,000 kilometres, is in fantastic condition and is being offered for sale for the first time in forty years.

In 1961, this Plymouth Fury Convertible was delivered new by the Zoet company in The Hague to the director of HaPee, an addressing-machine company from Zeist, later based in Soesterberg. In the 1980s, the car came into the hands of its second owner, who has cherished the Plymouth ever since. It is one of the few Fury models imported at the time and, as far as is known, currently the only example of this type in the Netherlands. Just under 7,000 examples were built, and as a convertible this model is particularly rare. The design was created by the legendary Virgil Exner (1909–1973).

The Plymouth is powered by a 5.2-litre 318 “Fury V-800” V8 producing 290 hp, paired with a push-button-operated Torque-Flite automatic transmission. The convertible top is electrically operated. The interior is bright red and, of course, the car is fitted with whitewall tyres. Special details include the wing-mounted side mirrors, the speedometer in a separate unit on the dashboard, the bonnet release integrated into the grille and the iconic “Microphone Taillights”. The twin headlights with their slanted eyebrows are framed in anodised aluminium and create a magnificent front view.

Notable options include the Square Wheel, the translucent angular steering wheel that cost around 1,000 dollars at the time, and the Philips in-car record player, complete with Elvis singles. The Plymouth comes with a full documentation package, including original service booklets, warranty papers, brochures and an article from the motoring magazine Carros.

This rare, unrestored Plymouth Fury Convertible with Dutch history is a unique car that has always been cherished and therefore deserves a loving third owner.

This vehicle has Dutch registration.
