Description

The first several years of Vespa production were an unbridled success for Piaggio, with sales totaling in the hundreds of thousands. It proved to be the perfect vehicle to get Italian families back on wheels after the end of WWII, offering simplicity, economy, and of course, style.

The 1953 Vespas offered numerous improvements and innovations, including a more durable engine, fade-resistant brakes, reinforced frame, and increased fuel capacity. It was also the debut year of the Pastel Gray paint color, one of the most admired colors ever to grace the early Vespa’s timeless form.

This 1953 Vespa 125 was restored in Europe before being acquired and imported by Florida-based collector Leo Schigiel, who featured it in his Italian-focused collection. It has been said that the Faro Basso (Low Light) Vespas offer a unique experience from behind the handlebars; the rider has the sensation of flying over the light as it emanates from just above the diminutive 8" front wheel’s stylish mudguard.

The perfect collection accent for any aficionado of vintage vehicles, this Vespa is a showcase of truly functional art, and exudes Italian style from every angle.

*Please note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and may require mechanical attention prior to road use.
