Description

Peugeot produced some of the best driving hot hatches of the Eighties, they drove with a verve and alacrity that the competition could never quite match. However, much of this was achieved by light weight, indeed some may call it a flimsiness of construct. That together with the fact that none were bought to drive slowly means it is now very hard to find a genuine original unmolested example.

This 309 GTi 1.9 is that rare bird. A completely original example that has covered just 36,000 miles, 22,000 miles of it in the hands of a very careful and clearly pedantic first owner. Mr William James of Belfast bought this super little 309 when new from his local Peugeot dealership, Parkgate Garages. He took delivery on the 5th of January 1989 and from then until 2009 looked after the Peugeot diligently to say the least. The fully stamped original service book and more importantly the carefully typed letters on file and corresponding invoices from the supplying dealer shows that the car was returned for any fault, however small. The car was presented for each service with a letter providing commentary on how the 309 had behaved since the last service documenting any possible faults he had noticed.

A second and last owner took the Peugeot over in April 2009 and has continued to look after it very carefully resulting in the exceptional original condition one can see today.

The Peugeot has just been fully inspected and serviced and comes with all original books in the correct Peugeot wallet, all tools, keys and of course that substantial history file which makes for some great reading.
