Description

"The Peugeot 205 was produced between 1983 and 1998 and was declared 'Car of the Decade' by CAR magazine in 1990. The styling of the 205 is often thought to be a Pininfarina design however Gerard Welter, Peugeot's chief designer, claims it as an in-house design. The car is often credited as the car that turned Peugeot's fortunes around. The GTi version came in 1.6 litre and 1.9 litre engine derivatives and is considered one of the very best 'hot hatches' of all time. The 205 GTi was known to offer a very rewarding driving experience and is still mentioned to this day in group car tests of the newest GTi models or equivalent. Peugeot never truly recreated this success in any subsequent GTi models, although they came close with the highly regarded GTi-6 variant of the 306. Increasingly stringent emissions regulations meant the 1.6 GTi went out of production in 1992, whilst the 1.9 was sold for a couple more years thanks to the re-engineering of the engine, enabling it to work properly with a catalytic converter.
In arguably the best colour combination of metallic grey with a black interior this lovely right hand drive example is powered by the highly sought after 1.9 litre four cylinder engine, this 'hot hatch' is still exhilarating to drive and capable of outpacing some of its more modern-day competitors. Offered with a history file detailing previous MoT test certificates, service records, sundry invoices, and the UK V5 registration document. In more recent times the GTi has been treated to new cambelts, tensioners, rear brakes and pads, as well as a new exhaust system. Recently the GTi has received a fresh MoT test certificate with no advisories and is ready for the open road. These modern classics are becoming more and more sought after as time goes on and this example with a modest mileage should be considered by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
