Description

"Having only covered 32,300 miles, this time warp Phase 1 example must be one of the most original and lowest mileage 205s to survive. With the more responsive 1.6-litre engine, this car was ordered in the lightest and purist possible specification. It benefits from not having the catalytic converter (that strangled the 1.9 GTi’s performance), electric windows or other weighty equipment like the sunroof, making this one of the few non-sunroof shelled cars. The 1.6-litre GTi’s also came with a short ratio gearbox enabling more sprightly performance than the 1.9.
One of the earliest righthand drive 205 GTi’s built, this car was first registered on 8th March 1985 to a Mrs. Rogers from St. Albans, Hertfordshire. It was used on average for a couple of thousand miles each year up until 1999 when it was sold at 23,100 miles to a Mr Holland. He also used the car sparingly and sold it in 2012 to a Mr. Howard, showing 30,700 miles. Soon after purchase, he fell seriously ill and the car was stored until 2016, at which point it was sold by his estate at 30,900 miles to the previous owner, the vendor purchasing it in September 2017.
Still in amazing condition, the car has never fallen into a state of disrepair. In April 2018, the car had a 36,000-mile cambelt service and, in May 2019, it had a check-over by renowned GTi specialist, Pug Racing in Fordingbridge. Presented in excellent condition throughout, the interior is unmarked and even the factory rubber floor mats are retained. Freshly serviced and supplied with V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until February 2021, a history file that goes back to day one, (including the original order form), all the factory manuals and tools, the original stamped service book as well as a lot of additional paperwork. Viewing of this ultimate, pure and unmolested example of arguably the best eighties hot hatch, is certainly worthwhile."
