One of the last 203 4-seater convertibles

In 1929, the Ramseier brothers founded a body shop in Worblaufen, a small town near Bern in Switzerland. They start in the field of chassis trim and specialize in convertibles, they will be renowned for their luxurious and easy to handle soft tops. Inspired by the Peugeot 203 presented at the Paris Motor Show on October 7, 1948, a few months later at the Geneva Motor Show in 1949, they presented a completely new convertible version. The latter was based on the sedan and offered a vast soft top, 4 generous seats and descending quarter windows. Its slightly wider bodywork retains the standard soft top and windshield, but with doors that open in a more classic manner. Ten of these models will be produced by Worblaufen bodywork. In order to meet demand, a second series of 10 convertibles will be produced. They are distinguished by a different treatment of the rear trunk, a smaller interior type 2 + 2 and a return to suicide doors. These achievements inspired Peugeot engineers, who in turn presented a 2-seater version of the 203 convertible at the 1951 Paris Motor Show. The example we are proposing was ordered by Hermann Ehrat, who lives in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Its current owner acquired it in 1971 and will take care all his life. The body underwent a complete refurbishment many years ago in a cream color that certainly corresponds to its original color. Its red interior has never been restored and has a beautiful patina. More recently, the soft top has been completely restored. Mechanically the car has always been well maintained and received a new engine in 2010. The 203 Worblaufen convertibles are extremely rare, this occasion represents an exceptional opportunity.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Sochaux, at the Aventure Peugeot Museum, France, on September the 20th, 2020.
