Performs wonderfully

One of the most original and low mileage 1939 Packard Twelves in existence

A collector’s dream

The 1939 Packard Twelve Convertible Sedan featured here is finished in stunning Tavern Green with Balfour Green fenders over a dark brown interior and beige folding convertible top. This outstanding example was sold new by Hon Smithson & Raymond in Chicago, Illinois, to Colonel Robert R. McCormick; owner of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Tribune. Rumor has it that McCormick’s rule was that his driver had to get him from downtown Chicago to his home in Wheaton, Illinois in 45 minutes or less – a task that the Packard Twelve was more than capable of! A Packard that has appealed to more than one collector owner in its time, this Twelve Convertible Sedan presents wonderfully, showcasing some patina on its original paint and chrome and only displaying 34,701 actual miles. In 2011, Packard specialist Dave Mitchell performed a through mechanical servicing and the car was tastefully equipped with high speed gears and overdrive. The model 1708 Packard is considered a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America and would be a welcome entry in a CCCA tour or concours event. With incredible provenance, low mileage and outstanding originality, we are confident that this Convertible Sedan is one of the best examples that can be found on the market today. We are proud to offer this exceptional 1939 Packard Twelve Convertible Sedan to the most astute collector or investor who appreciates originality and low mileage classic motorcars.
