This is an immaculate and fully original car!
A true showpiece from A to Z. The car was bought new in the Netherlands in 1965 by the then director of the Hoegaarden sugar factory. The director at the time had himself driven around by his private chauffeur until 1975. After which the car was neatly stored in a warehouse behind the factory. After years and years when the private chauffeur retired, he was given the Opel Rekord as a parting gift from the director. He also stored the car for years, in his heated basement. The car stayed there until 2012. The driver’s partner made the decision to sell the car despite the beautiful and special story behind it The current Belgian owner bought the car and fully rebuilt it down to the smallest bolt. The car had quite some issues due to the long period of inactivity. Therefore, the engine was completely overhauled and checked. It now starts immediately and runs like a charm. The brakes were also fully checked and work perfectly once again. The gearbox needs to be adjusted, this has not been done yet but will be an easy task for a handy person. The engine runs perfectly and does not emit smoke! Also the entire bodywork has been addressed and looks truly phenomenal! You will probably not find another Rekord with a bottom in this particular condition! New shock absorbers, brakes, suspension, cables, etcetera, etcetera. This car was given at least 13,000 euros worth of new parts and labour. The interior is also really beautiful and matches the exterior. All of the original details are present! Even the radio.
The paintwork is relatively old and in a lesser condition. The paintwork is mostly original and has been repainted in some places over the course of years. One of the doors for example has a slightly different colour and overall there are some touched-up spots. No showroom condition, rather a lively and beautiful vintage look! Original bonnet emblem present! Absolutely not a fake car, not full of filler but an real honest car! With perfect fits seams and fits!
