The Opel GT. A beautifully shaped coupe that was not at all like the rest of his family. A special car in terms of design, but where the technology remained very “Opel solid” and largely determined its success. As a kid the little coupe already appealed to us and it has always remained that way. With a strong preference for the color yellow and of course in the sporty J version, so with the black bumpers. We just came across such an GT!Directly coming from a true enthusiast, this original Dutch GT had a very good life. That started on March 22th 1972 when the daughter of a well-known Opel dealer was handed the keys by her dad, with the sincere message to enjoy it but also to be very careful with it. The two owners who came after the daughter were apparently carefull petrol head too, because until now the car has been driven, parked and maintained so well that a restoration was not necessary. And that is really very special. A few years ago, from a cosmetic point of view, the paint was renewed once and it is still very beautiful. That the bodywork has remained so good is also due to a thorough ML tectyl treatment which was a standard delivery work at the time. But it had to be kept up to date over the years. And that was done properly to this GT. The ML treatment may not look that nice, but it surely has prevented against rust, while the condition of the sheet metal can still be judged very well. So it appears that there has been no welding to the car and everything is original. The odometer displays 9318. So the totall mileage is 109318 km., which is for a 47 year old car, very low of course.
The technique is also in good working order and the accompanying invoices indicate that in recent years maintenance has been in the hands of a true classic Opel specialist. The interior also looks beautiful, with no damage or cracks in the upholstery, and everything is still original.
We are always looking for very real cars such as this Opel GT-J. Timeless quality cars that the enthusiast knows how to value and want to enjoy it. Maybe you have a spot in your garage?
