Description
The Norton International was built between 1931 and 1957 and is one of the most celebrated and sporting models ever built by the legendary company. These innovative overhead-cam, single-cylinder motorcycles were essentially road-going versions of the famous Manx race bikes that dominated the Isle of Man.
This absolutely exceptional 500 cc Model 30 version was restored by British bike expert Bob Ives of Santa Paula, California, from 2014 to 2015, and finished just in time for the competitive Clubman’s All-British Weekend show where it won its 1946-1962 Middleweight class. Several months later the Norton was shown at the Corsa Classica bike show at Willow Springs Raceway where it won Best of Show and Best British Motorcycle. Bob Ives is legendary for his use of only the finest chromers, painters, and parts suppliers, and for his keen eye for originality. His ability to source rare, original parts has garnered him countless awards over the years, winning almost every major show including The Quail Motorcycle Gathering.
The Norton was sold in 2015 by Canepa of Scotts Valley, California, to Florida- based enthusiast Jonathan Cox, a British motorcycle collector, who then sold it in 2016 to Leo Schigiel of Miami. The International remains in sensational condition today with just seven miles shown on the odometer since its restoration. This is a rare and significant opportunity to acquire one of the greatest British motorcycles restored by one of the world’s best Norton restorers.
