While many of the Play Station generation may have first experienced the drama of the R34 GT-R V-Spec through Gran Turismo, it was an appearance in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise that led to an explosion in global popularity for the R34 GT-R. Indeed, Paul Walker drove an R34 GT-R in '2 Fast 2 Furious', enhancing its almost cult status. But it was in the "real" world where the R34 GT-R V-Spec would cement its reputation.
The V-Spec (Victory Specification) was offered with a number of upgrades over the standard R34 and came equipped with arguably one of the most technically sophisticated four-wheel-drive/steer chassis in the world. The 2001 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) V-Spec is legendary for its powerhouse performance, driven by the famous 2.6-litre twin-turbocharged RB26DETT inline-six engine.
While officially rated at 280 horsepower to comply with Japan's historical automotive "gentlemen's agreement," the engine actually developed closer to 334bhp right out of the factory. Paired with a close-ratio 6-speed Getrag manual transmission and the advanced ATTESA E-TS Pro all-wheel-drive system, this potent setup launches the V-Spec from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds.
This rapid acceleration, combined with the engine's incredible tuning potential, cemented the R34's reputation as a giant-killer on both the street and the track. Described by Evo magazine as 'A warrior-class performer' in a 2007 road test, where a standard R34 GT-R was pitted against the likes of a McLaren F1, Pagani Zonda, Ferrari F40 and Bugatti Veyron, the GT-R’s reputation as a class act remained intact.
According to the accompanying bill of sale, this epic motor car was supplied new to a gentleman in Northwood, the first and only registered keeper, on 20/04/2001 for the princely sum of £52,733, stating: The "sale of one" new Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec ordered in Black with a matching black leather interior. The car was also fitted with a 24-Hour Tracker and latterly with a Cobra alarm and immobiliser system, which should keep the insurance underwriters content.
The book pack includes the owners manual, supplying dealer literature, aforementioned alarm and tracker documents together with a service book evidencing main dealer servicing. Additional receipts dated the 18/02/2025 shows servicing by marque specialists, Litchfield of Tewkesbury, at 7,281 miles, and it travelled a few miles more to the MOT testing station which issued the advisory free certificate valid until 14/10/2027. In addition to the documents, the car has two sets of keys that include the GT-R remote control fobs and the Cobra alarm and immobilisation transponders.
For those who wish to own a rare, one keeper, original, UK-supplied examples of one of the most celebrated cars produced at the turn of 21st Century, this low-mileage icon is unrepeatable.
