Power for Morgan’s 5th generation Aero 8 came from a BMW-sourced 4.8-litre V-8 engine, capable of 367 bhp and 370 foot-pounds of torque, which by modern standards may seem unremarkable. However, when paired to a bonded aluminium chassis that resulted in a curb weight of just 1,180 kg, the performance was anything but: 0–100 km/h mph in roughly 4.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 273 km/h.
This particular Aero 8 left the factory on 5 July 2017 and is specified beautifully in Lapis Blue, a Porsche colour, with navy mohair hood and side screens. Inside, the tan leather quilted seats are complemented by box weave carpets in Oatmeal and Tawny Ash veneer trims. An ‘Aero Racing’ performance pack, which includes side exit exhausts, red callipers, gloss black diffuser and an AR Motorsport detail pack complete the specification, along with an automatic transmission.

The car was built to European specifications and delivered to Lowman Exclusive, Morgan’s dealership in Holland. Purchased by the current owner in 2017 and imported to Switzerland, it has remained in the current owner’s collection ever since. Beautifully preserved, it presents as new throughout, with a paltry 135 km on its odometer at the time of cataloguing.

Morgans Aero 8 der fünften Generation bezog seine Leistung von einem 4,8-Liter BMW V8 mit 372 PS und 502 Nm Drehmoment. Was nach heutigen Maßstäben vielleicht nicht so bemerkenswert erscheinen mag, führt bei einem Aluminiumchassis und einem Gesamtgewicht von nur 1.180 kg zu einer Performance, die sich sehen lassen kann. Die Beschleunigung auf 100 km/h benötigte nur 4,5 Sekunden, die Höchstgeschwindigkeit betrug 273 km/h.

Dieser Aero 8 verließ das Werk am 5. Juli 2017 in einer wunderschönen Porsche Farbe namens Lapis blau mit einem marineblauen Mohairverdeck und Einsteckfenstern. Im Innenraum treffen gestepptes hellbraunes Leder auf den Sitzen auf gewebte Teppich in oatmeal und eine Holzverkleidung in Esche. Ein „Aero Racing“ Performance Paket mit Seitenauspuff, roten Bremssätteln, einem Diffusor in hochglanz schwarz und ein AR Motorsport Paket komplettieren die Spezifikation. Hinzu kommt ein Automatikgetriebe.

Dieser Morgan wurde als EU-Version an den niederländischen Morgan-Importeur Louwman Exclusive ausgeliefert. Der heutige Besitzer erwarb den Wagen bereits 2017 und importierte ihn in die Schweiz, wo er bis heute in der Sammlung des Einlieferers verblieb. Durch und durch neu präsentiert sich dieser Aero 8 mit minimalen 135 km Laufleistung zum Zeitpunkt der Drucklegung.

Der berauschende Mix aus klassischem Look und moderner Technik macht diesen Aero 8 zu etwas Besonderem selbst in exotischer Gesellschaft. Eine feine Ergänzung zu jeder Sammlung.
