"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HYOriginally conceived by Sir Alec Issigonis as a further use of the innovative Mini drivetrain, the Mini Moke was proposed as a lightweight military vehicle for off-road and airborne assault use. However after being rejected by the British army the Moke was introduced in 1964 as a simple, reliable, inexpensive agricultural vehicle. Originally built at the Longbridge, Birmingham plant it became evident that the car's open design meant that it was not ideal for the British climate with the vast majority ending up overseas. Production continued in both Australia and Portugal where the demand was considerably higher with more than 35,000 units being sold. In 1990 Rover sold the Moke project to Cagiva, which continued production in Portugal until 1993.Originally delivered to Portugal this well presented example is believed to have had just two owners from new and has spent the majority of its life in private collections in both Portugal and Cyprus. On 20th January 2020 the Moke was imported to the UK and registered accordingly. Generally, this example is presented in good order throughout, the paintwork is very good and the interior presents nicely. The hood is in good condition and the Minilite wheels present well.
