The MG TD came on the market in 1950 and was the successor to the MG TC. As with the MG TC, America was the most important market for the TD. The chassis and bodywork of the TD were broadly similar to those of the TC. However, the TD had a rack steering system and independent front suspension. The mudguards were different in shape because the TC's large 19" spoke wheels had made way for 15" wheels. The MG TD was built until 1953 and was succeeded by the MG TF.

This MG was originally delivered new in America in 1951. It has been registered in the Netherlands since 1962. There is also a folder with periodic inspection reports showing the MG has only driven 6,772 km in the last 23 years.

This TD is technically in very good condition. This is supported by a stack of workshop invoices for €6,000. The engine and gearbox were overhauled a few years ago. Since this overhaul, the car has only driven 4,000 km. It has a hard body, chassis and good woodwork. The paintwork is in good condition. A point of attention is the paintwork on the mudguards and the fuel tank. The paint is cracked in places because of the hardener.

No expense or effort spared during the recent maintenance service. In addition to replacing the brake cylinders and gearbox oil, the spark plugs were also replaced.

This car is very original and has a great patina. The side windows are almost unused, still in the box after 70 years! Driving this car feels really good. Everything works as it should and the mechanics work well. The engine runs well, the gearbox shifts smoothly and the newly overhauled brakes ensure safe braking.
