Description

"The TC Midget was the first postwar MG launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1250cc pushrod-OHV engine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7.4:1 generating 54bhp at 5200rpm. The makers also provided several alternative stages of tuning for 'specific purposes'. It was exported to the United States even though only ever built in right hand drive. The body was approximately four inches wider than the TB measured at the rear of the doors to give more cockpit space. The overall car width remained the same resulting in narrower running boards with two tread strips as opposed to the previous three. The tachometer was directly in front of the driver while the speedometer was on the other side of the dash in front of the passenger.
Purchased by the vendor some 20 years ago, this MG was handed over to him largely in boxes and bags. It had been dismantled prior to his purchase and he embarked upon a total rebuild of this TC. As a fully qualified aircraft engineer this was a project that excited him even though there were obvious challenges ahead. The fact the car remains in such splendid condition today is testament to the quality of workmanship. This quintessentially British sportscar presents in Shire Green with a green interior and is supplied with a V5C registration document and a history folder. The V5C shows the car as first being registered in the UK on the 8th June 2000 and unfortunately nothing is really known about the car prior to the vendor purchasing it, although it is confirmed she was manufactured on 21st April 1948 as a right hand drive example."
