The MG SA or MG 2-litre is a sporting saloon that was produced by MG from 1936 to 1939.
Launched as the 2-litre, it only later became known as the SA, the car had been originally planned as an of SS Cars advanced performance saloon to rival the likes (later to be known as Jaguar) and even Bentley with all independent suspension and was given the factory code of EX150 and designated the S-type This beautiful 1937 MG SA, has been owned by the current owner for the last three years, he admits that he should not have bought the car in the first place, but when spotted this very car in a pub car park and thought never have I seen such a pretty car with so much presence before, I must have one. Nearly a year later the same car came up for sale the then owner claiming he was just too old to drive her anymore. The car was viewed and tested and purchased on the spot then driving straight home.

This was joined by a 1960 Austin Healey and a 1936, 4 ¼ Bentley. No matter where we went always small crowds of admirers gathered round the MG Unfortunately following a mild stroke and a ban from driving and the MG was not being used, so unfortunately the owner has decided its time for the car to go to someone else to enjoy. The MG was built in 1937 and was originally black, the car still wears an original 1937 tax disc

The car was discovered in a farmhouse basement and the house was about to be demolished over the car and leaving it inside as hard-core. A local MG enthusiast traced the cars owner, bought the car and towed it out behind a tractor just hours before the house was demolished. Several years of total rebuild commenced and the MG returned to the road in about 1984 in wrapped in a new coat of Red over Grey paint.

At some point the car was sold to a new owner in the Stratford upon Avon area, we have been told he was a well known restorer of Rolls Royce cars we understand his name was Tony Smith. Tony was found and he told the owner that he did nothing but polish and display the car which became a 5 times concourse winner, unfortunately he refused to throw in the trophies or even copy paperwork as part of the deal. We understand the only non standard part on the car is the ashtray fitted on the dash which is understand to be from a Rolls Royce

The MG was put up for sale by Barry Smith (MG) fame as a favour to the owner; Barry was the middleman in the sale. The car has been owned by the current owner since March 2017 at 29714miles, the clock currently shows 30,365. 2018 MOT 30,079 2019MOT 30,287 A total of 651 miles in his ownership in three years so you can understand why see needs a new home During this time the car suffered a blown cylinder head gasket so a copper gasket was made by a specialist the car has been fine since a spare gasket is in the boot just in case. The 2.3 litre straight six she is not exactly a sports car but once moving the car is just a great tourer, just typical 1030s motoring.

Perfect for film or TV work The interior is Red Leather in tip top condition and is completed with the red silk triangular cushions in the rear. A full photograph record of the rebuild and documentation plus an original period sales brochure all of which stay with the car as do all the badges fitted. There is enough chrome to keep the new owner polishing all day & its all perfect. There are painted spoke wheels with a spare on the boot.

The front Windscreen opens with the aid of more chromed handles. The car has been kept up to date with servicing by Tanworth Garage (Tanworth in Arden) a past winner of MG garage of the year and a true bit of auto history in its self.
