Description

"The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé, with 2+2 seating, was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MGT types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was certainly one of the MGB's strong points.
This interesting MGB was originally manufactured as an MGB GT V8. However, during restoration works a Heritage bodyshell was purchased and the owner at the time decided he would order a Roadster body, keeping all the other details of the car the same. This, therefore, is a very rare Roadster with a V8 engine. The restoration project took place in 1993 and the engine was rebuilt circa 11,000 miles ago. Having recently had two new six-volt batteries fitted this MGB now starts on the button and we are advised she drives well. Supplied with a V5C registration document, this is an opportunity to purchase a unique Roadster with the evocative and familiar sound of a V8 engine.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
