Description
"The MGB was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MGA and has become a firm favourite with British motoring enthusiasts. October 1965 saw the introduction of the GT based on the already popular roadster. Designed by none other than Pininfarina, the new GT sported a hatchback giving useful access to the rear luggage space and a rear bench seat that enabled the car to be called a 2+2. It was Ken Costello who saw the possibility of fitting the larger aluminium 328cc, Rover engine having been sure that the handling and braking could be made to match the much improved performance, not that it needed significant changes as the V8 weighed in at around 40lbs lighter than the four cylinder iron blocked engine it replaced.
This genuine factory built MGB GTV8 was first registered in September of 1979, it has recently undergone a complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration to a very pleasing standard. Offered in Damask Red with black trim, this restoration included a full engine rebuild and is fully documented with images and invoices. Originally purchased by our vendor in 2014 from an MG owners club member, the restoration was intended to keep the car original and thus as many parts as possible were restored and reused with only subtle changes such as larger fans for cooling and leather seats. Since the comprehensive restoration to this fabulous motorcar, only 600 miles have been covered. In the history file accompanying the car are restoration documentation and history from 1979 until 2014 including service records and a lovely provenance to complement this great example."
