- Legendary model
- Rare European version
It was at the London Motor Show in September 1962 that MG unveiled the replacement for the MGA: the MGB. More modern, its design was sleeker, more angular and adopted a more contemporary look. With the addition of side windows in the doors, the MGB abandoned its status as a pure roadster to become a true convertible. Much less spartan than its predecessor, it offered a more spacious interior, still strictly two-seater, but designed for greater comfort without compromising the brand's sporting spirit.
Elegant in both town and country, the MGB appeals with its versatility and assertive personality. Its engine also gained in displacement, increasing from 1600 to 1800 cc, bringing extra performance and enjoyment.
The example we are offering was first registered on 14 June 1968. It is therefore a desirable MK2 version, which retains the charm of the early models while benefiting from significant technical developments: fully synchronised gearbox, five-bearing engine, alternator and standard heating.
Restored by its owner in the mid-2000s, this MGB now has a beautiful patina. It has been little used in recent years, so a minor service may be considered for peace of mind, although it is currently in working order. A spot of perforating corrosion, a bearing and the brakes will need to be checked to obtain a valid MOT.
Apart from its MGC bonnet, it is faithful to the original and perfectly embodies the timeless charm of the classic English convertible.
