Description

"The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. It was Introduced as a four cylinder roadster and a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body on frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. The performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction aided by the relatively light weight of the car.
This lovely example is presented in British Racing Green with black leather seats which are in good condition and it also comes with a black hood and tonneau. The engine was rebuilt as part of a restoration which took place in the late 1990s and about five years ago, a new all synchromesh gearbox was installed. The car comes with a substantial history file containing many invoices from the present owners time with the car as well as past owners. The current vendor had a new head fitted with hardened valve seats so that it can run on lead free petrol, all the parts were purchased via the MG Owners Club. The carburettors have been fully reconditioned and new carpets have been fitted. With overdrive available in third and fourth gears, this great British sports car is still a joy to drive on country roads and is just as at home on the motorway."
