Description

Launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1962, the MGB is a two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later British Leyland. The MGB brought MG’s sports cars into the modern day, with its attractive slab-sided roadster body. Remaining in production until 1980 the MGB was Britain’s most successful sports car. The B utilised a monocoque chassis instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA, MG T-Types and the MGB's rival, the Triumph TR series. Powered by British Leyland’s 95bhp B-Series engine the MGB offered spritely performance. The MGB also proved itself in the motorsport arena, successfully competing in events such as the Mote Carlo Rally, Spa 1000, Targa Florio and quickly became a favourite of many a club racer.

The MGB ‘FIA’ Roadster offered here at Autostorico is an early 1964 registered car finished in British Racing Green with White roof and Black interior trim. Purchased by its current owner in 2017, this stunning example underwent a no expense sparred rebuild. Work started with a new Heritage Shell with attention then passing to a full mechanical overhaul. This included the 1840cc engine, running gear along with suspension, brakes, wiring and cooling system. Specification highlights include; Genuine ‘works’ hardtop, full FIA roll cage, plumbed in fire extinguisher, battery isolator, harnesses and Minator alloy wheels. The car has subsequently been maintained to the highest possible standard and has done little since its last re-fresh.

Offered for sale with FIA / HTP papers are valid unit 2030. GTS11 certified for multiple historic uses including Race, Rally and Hill Climb. A substantial history file accompanies the car, including a current V5 registration document, numerous invoices and other related history.
