Description

The MGA marked a new era for the brand, and looked nothing like its predecessor, the TF Midget. It offered groundbreaking styling and performance for which MG was known. Answering the call of enthusiasts, the Twin-Cam variant of the popular roadster debuted in 1958 with its most commanding power train yet. The high-compression, Twin-Cam motor was paired with further performance upgrades including a short-throw, four-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. This proved for a lively, confidence-inspiring driving experience that, combined with its elegant styling, made for an instant classic. However, with the Twin-Cam option only offered through the 1960 model year, only 2,111 were ultimately built.

Decades later, this well-sorted Twin-Cam offers the perfect recipe for a collector-grade roadster. This example benefits from a thoroughly documented show-quality restoration completed in 2016 that addressed cosmetic and mechanical elements, including a complete engine rebuild by Twin-Cam expert Kent Prather. A red leather interior and Old English White exterior match the original colors stated on the accompanying BMIHT Certificate, and the MGA shows little signs of wear, down to the pristine undercarriage and engine bay. Desirably outfitted with Lucas Tri-Pod PL 700 headlamps and a Moto-Lita steering wheel, this Roadster is accompanied by a proper tonneau cover, side curtains, tool kit, and jack. With limited mileage following its restoration, this is an exceptional example of a Twin-Cam Roadster ready for its next caretaker.
