Description

Eine deutsche Beschreibung finden Sie weiter unten.

After more than five decades, Mercedes-Benz in 2009 once again presented a gullwing: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The legendary first gullwing 300SL had been produced until 1957 only and had an immensely positive influence on the company’s reputation.

Right from the start, the modern times-gullwing wowed with its puristic design, consequent lightweight construction and superior driving dynamics. The SLS was the first car solely developed by AMG and its DNA is purely that of a sports car. The aluminium-spaceframe-body with gullwings, the high-performance AMG motor, the seven-gear gear box with double clutch as well as the very good weight distribution form a package that hadn’t been seen at a Mercedes-Benz since the 300 SL.

In 2006, Mercedes-Benz AMG presented the first model of its extremely sportive and exclusive “Black Series”: the SLK “Black Series”, which had been inspired by the 2004 and 2006 Formula 1-safety car. Since then, AMG crowns their series in irregular intervals with an extreme Black Series-model.

So in 2013, also the SLS AMG got a new top model with its “Black Series”-version. This was only the fifth member of the “Black Series”-family by Daimler. And due to the fact that it wasn’t based on a standard series car by Mercedes-Benz, it also was the most extreme.

The birth of the super-sportive SLS Black Series meant a major transfer of motorsport technology to the street. Inspired by the racing model SLS GT3, the SLS AMG Black Series inspires with a clearly sharper design, impressive driving dynamics and consequent light-weight construction. The enhanced and extensively modified 6.3-liter-V8-motor supplies with 464 kW (631 PS) and 635 NM torque 60 PS more than the regular SLS. So at its time, the Black Series was the strongest AMG high performance car with a combustion engine. Only the SLS AMG Electric Drive nominally had a higher power output, albeit offering a lower performance in terms of acceleration, top speed and range.

Thanks to its lower weight – reduced by 70 kg – the car has a power to weight-ratio of 2.45 kg per PS. It reaches 100 km/h from stillstand within 3.6 seconds and the maximum speed is 315 km/h.

At the Black Series, the topic light weight-construction was emphasized. Following the “AMG Lightweight Performance Strategy“, many elements of the body like the bonnet, the interior separation behind the AMG sport bucket seats, the diagonal strives at the underbody as well as the torque tube between motor and gear box are completely made from the racing material carbon. Additionally, the AMG titanium sports exhaust system adds to the low weight – and it thrills with its acoustics that is clearly inspired by the racetrack.

Also, the AMG Speedshift seven-gear sports gear box was extensively revised. It was installed 10 mm lower than before to lower the center of gravity. Compared with the regular SLS AMG and the AMG GT, the shifting and reaction times were still improved. Together with the automatic double-declutching function, which is again reinforced by the Black Series exhaust system, the double-clutch gear box conveys pure dynamics and an emotional driving experience. The AMG Ride Control chassis, the enormous ceramics brakes and the special super-light rims top off the package.

The design is inspired by the race version GT3 and is clearly distinguishable from the standard SLS. Front spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser cater for better aerodynamics and an aggressive look. The bonnet is completely made from carbon an has a central air outlet. The optional AMG Aerodynamics Package and the large Carbon rear wing spoiler, which this car was equipped with before delivery, further boost the driving dynamics and the sportive look

The rims, especially designed for the Black Series, are painted in matt black with a high sheen finish. Alternatively, rims painted in matt black and a rim flange with a high sheen finish were available.

Inside the car a sportive-functional racing atmosphere meets high-quality, precisely processed materials with fondly designed details such as a contrasting red top stitching, a special 3-d-stitching and more. Light bucket seats, much carbon fibre and Alcantara in many areas set the Black Series apart from its more civil brothers. Options for the interior colours where either black or black and red.

The car offered was delivered by AMG on September 17, 2013 within Germany. The chosen paint was the Designo option Mystic White with a matching interior trim and upholstery in black and almost all available accessories.

Subsequently, the car is equipped with all extras apart from the easily damage Carbon fibre door sills

- AMG Aerodynamics Package
- AMG motor cover in Carbon
- AMG Carbon outside mirrors
- AMG forged rims in 19“/20“ in matte black and a rim flange with a high sheen finish
- Bang&Olufsen sound system
- AMG Infotainment System (inkl. COMAND APS, AMG Performance Media and
rear view camera
- Media-Interface
With the SLS AMG there are two different types of services. Type A and the more extensive type B.

The service history is completely known and documented by the original invoices and the digital service records.

This car has the following service history:

20.07.2016 Service B with Plus package 7.814 km
25.09.2017 Service A 8.275 km
15.02.2019 Service B with Plus package 8.393 km

As one would expect from such a low mileage one owner car, the car is in very good and well cared condition. Only on the front right wheelarch are three tiny scratches and a scratch on the little spoiler in the front right corner. Both can be easily removed.

We asked the expert Klaus Kukuk to thoroughly check the car. Kukuk is one of the most renowned motor vehicle experts with decades of experience and a vast expertise in the field of classic cars, sports cars and racing cars.

This check will take place on May 22, 2019, and the assessment can be made available a few days later to any serious buyers.

The car is available for an inspection by appointment only in 33415 Verl, Germany. We are happy to show you the car and the documents and have a lift available as well.

- AMG Aerodynamik Paket (Code B26)
- AMG Motorabdeckung Carbon (Code B14)
- AMG Carbon Aussenspiegel (Code 773)
- AMG Schmiederäder in 19“/20“ mit glanzgedrehter Felgenschulter (Code 658)
- Bang&Olufsen Soundsystem (Code 811)
- AMG Infotainment System (inkl.

25.09.2017 Service A 8.275 km
15.02.2019 Service B mit Plus Paket 8.393 km
