Description

2009 MERCEDES BENZ SLR MCLAREN 722 S ROADSTER:
--Crystal Antimony Grey, Semi-Aniline Black Leather interior with Alcantara inserts, Red stitching, Carbon fiber trim, 2,600 miles from new, 5.4-liter supercharged V8 with 641bhp and a 5-speed AMG Speedshift R Automatic Transmission, 1 of 150 722 S Roadsters produced, 1 of 24 for the USA.

In the early 2000s, supercars were the greatest desire as all the top marques aimed to produce their flagship model. Porsche with the Carrera GT, Ferrari with the Enzo, and even Ford with the GT. Mercedes enlisted the help of its then Formula 1 partner, McLaren, to produce the SLR. The SLR name is a tribute to the 300 SLR endurance racer of the 1950s. Like the 300 SLR, sustaining high speed over the course of hundreds of miles remained the focus of development, so Mercedes–McLaren focused more on grand touring, rather than on all-out track performance. The SLR was meant to be the everyday supercar. Mercedes and McLaren fitted an all-aluminum 5.4 liter supercharged V8 with top speed over 200mph.

Towards the end of production of the SLR supercar, Mercedes wanted to do something special for the swan song of the iconic model. The new special edition was named in honor of Stirling Moss’ incredible win at the 1955 Mille Miglia in a 300 SLR, car number 722. 722 was the number pertaining to his 7:22am start time. Nearly every aspect of the SLR was upgraded for the 722 Edition. Power rose from 617 to 641 horsepower, the 0–60 time dropped to 3.6 seconds, ride height was lowered by 10 millimeters, new 19-inch alloy wheels were developed to fit larger carbon-ceramic brake rotors and a new carbon fiber front splitter increased front downforce by 128 percent. Alcantara and carbon fiber replaced much of the leather and aluminum trim throughout the interior.

The 722 S Roadster is one of the rarest Mercedes models ever made. Only 150 were produced worldwide and only 24 cars found their way to the United States. Showing just 2,600 miles from new, this 722 is in exceptional like-new condition throughout. This SLR is complete with its original books and case, battery tender, first aid kit and car cover. This 722 is ready for immediate enjoyment and is an excellent opportunity to own a piece of Mercedes Benz and McLaren history for what is sure to be a one of the rarest models manufactured in Mercedes Benz-McLaren history.
