Description
- 1 of 150 SLR 722 Edition Coupes produced
- Gifted new to Formula 1 Driver Fernando Alonso
- Exceptionally preserved with 3,150 km from new
- Full service history with service up to date
Built as a tribute to Sir Stirling Moss’ 1955 Mille Miglia victory in the 300 SLR , the SLR 722 Edition represents the pinnacle of the McLaren-Mercedes partnership—a race-bred grand tourer fusing Formula 1 technology with road-going performance. Just 150 coupes were produced, each boasting a hand-built AMG 5.4L supercharged V8 producing 641 hp, stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and motorsport-inspired aero enhancements.
In 2007, two-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso joined McLaren-Mercedes after back-to-back titles with Renault. To commemorate his arrival, McLaren gifted Alonso this very car—a gesture honouring his status as the reigning champion.
The 2007 F1 season proved legendary, with Alonso and rookie teammate Lewis Hamilton tied at 109 points—just one point behind World Champion Kimi Räikkönen. Though Alonso returned to Renault in 2008, this SLR remained in his collection in Asturias, Spain, where it was maintained in exceptional original condition.
Sold in 2017 with just 2,453 km, it now shows 3,150 km and remains in flawless, collector-grade condition, accompanied by its original Spanish registration plates, full service history, and documentation of provenance.
With its remarkable pedigree, low mileage, and exceptional original state, this SLR “722 Edition” is an unparalleled opportunity for collectors of motorsport history and automotive excellence.
