According to those in the know this was the car that sparked off the horsepower race between German manufacturers. All of a sudden the 500 Ps Mercedes-Benz R230 SL 55 AMG hit the market in 2002. Of course there was also the more powerful SL 600, but it was absolutely no match for the AMG crafted SL 55. This two-owner car first hit the Japanese roads on the 1st April 2004. The SL 55 AMG is a seriously fast car. Zero to 100 km/hr flashes by in just 4.7 seconds with a limited top-speed of 250km/hr. According to the engineers at AMG the SL 55’s unlimited top could reach 335 km/hr! The first owner took the car with him from Japan to Belgium. In the first couple of years the car was serviced by Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Japan and later by specialists in Belgium. A complete car wallet together with the car’s full service history is present. The car has been very well preserved. The neat bodywork has fine and correctly aligned panelwork. The paintwork is nicely maintained with only very slight signs of use. The optional black painted two-part rims are shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. The red leather clad interior trim is in very fine condition. The luxurious feel of the car is there from the moment your open the door. The metal hood is of course operated electrically and naturally the car has climate control, cruise control, Sat-Nav and electrically adjustable seats. The good maintenance is immediately evident when your get behind the SL’s wheel. It has fantastic driving properties. Its roadholding is great, its braking power phenomenal and the automatic gear change silky smooth. This is typically the kind of car that can do anything, from a relaxing Sunday afternoon drive to driving through Germany at top-speed.
