Description
Chassis No. WDB2304761F071545
In July 2001, Mercedes-Benz presented its new R230 SL-Class to the press inside the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. Its headline feature was the Vario Roof, a folding hardtop that disappeared into the trunk in just 16 seconds. It also debuted Sensotronic Brake Control, an electro-hydraulic braking system, and paired it with Active Body Control which kept the car flat through corners and under hard braking.
A new flagship arrived in January 2003. The SL 600 carried a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 producing 500 PS and 800 Nm of torque from just 1,800 rpm, enough to reach 100 km/h in a mere 4.7 seconds. Chrome accents on the grille, silver brake calipers, and V12 badges in the front fender vents distinguished it from the rest of the range.
This SL 600 was ordered new through Mercedes-Benz Switzerland and delivered on 2 December 2003. It is finished in Cubanite Silver Metallic with a Gray Exclusive leather, and the interior is accented by burr walnut trim and a designo Alpaca Gray Alcantara headliner. Given its status as the range topping model, it boasted a long list of equipment that included Keyless-Go, COMAND, climate-controlled multi-contour front seats, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Parktronic, and the Bose premium sound system
Kenny's Auto-Center in Wettingen handed the SL to its first owner, who had it serviced through 66,000 kilometers. The current owner acquired it in 2022, and it shows 78,000 kilometers at the time of cataloging. With effortless V12 thrust from low revs and a roof that folds away in seconds, this SL 600 is as rewarding on an Alpine pass as on a long Autobahn run.
