In 2001, Mercedes-Benz presented the new SL, referred to by experts as the R230 series. As an evolution of the R129, the newcomer is in many ways ready for the new era. From rectangular headlights to the peanut-shaped lighting that was characteristic of Mercedes at that time. But also from soft-top to folding hardtop. Furthermore, there were numerous firsts for this generation, such as Keyless Entry & Go and Active Body Control, an active chassis.

In terms of engine range, the new SL is also a clear successor to the R129, initially with an SL 500 and SL 55 AMG and later less powerful and even more explosive versions. The car you see here is an SL 500 and, with its smooth V8 with 306 hp, it is a fantastic driver's car. Equipped with every luxury and comfort, but also with a form of classic character. The V8 is still a traditional naturally aspirated engine without a turbo and therefore fantastic sounding and very powerful.

This SL 500 was delivered new in 2002 and came to the Netherlands in 2006. In one of the most popular color combinations and most typical for Mercedes-Benz: silver gray with dark gray leather. The bodywork is in good condition. The SL was actually a kind of showcase of what Mercedes-Benz was capable of and that can mainly be described as impressive. Don't forget that you are looking at a car that is over twenty years old. All associated parts, such as lighting, wheels, rubbers and other details, also show that these are cars of very high quality. The mileage of this 5-liter is only 126,485 kilometers, which means that this SL has barely been run in, as they say.

This is also visible in the interior. The, of course, original upholstery is in excellent condition and that applies to everything you see around you when you take a seat on one of the fantastic chairs. In addition to all the gray and black tones, the very beautiful wooden center console and various places with a similar finish are a very stylish and colorful addition. Very chic.

Under the hood is the aforementioned 5-liter V8. Not quite the brutal violence of the SL 55 AMG, but unprecedented flexibility. Plenty of power everywhere, but at the same time anything but nervous or dominant. A reliable engine that will provide endless fun. The previous owner enjoyed his car and wanted it to remain in good condition and kept the SL properly maintained.

A beautiful classic in the making that is of course also particularly suitable for business use.
