Description

"Three things you can be sure of when acquiring a Mercedes-Benz; build quality, innovation, and reliability. Or QIR as it is often referred to in the ‘trade’. From the advent of the Pagoda in the 1950s though to Alexa Carrington-style (R107) in the 1980s, the Bremen engineers had a tough act to follow. But, with the launch of the R129 in 1989, they had clearly mastered the act of reinventing the wheel! Quality and reliability are a given now, but innovation really took the motoring press by storm. Controlled electronic damping and an automatically expanding roll-over bar as well as fully operating electric hood, windows, door mirrors and seats. Whilst the SL boasted a more powerful engine, stopping power was conversely aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance.
Presented in a metallic Ruby colour, including hardtop, with a black leather interior and a black fabric soft top, this example was sold directly into the British Military as a NATO tax free sale. All modifications such a leather trim, headlamp washer and factory alarm system are detailed on the Mercedes-Benz VIN decoder. Supplied with a fresh MoT test certificate as well as a recent comprehensive service invoice from Alex Crow, Mercedes-Benz specialists as well as reasonably placed service intervals. It also benefits from AMG alloy wheels and a factory wind deflector stowed away in the rear boot compartment. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
