Stemming from the earlier 500SL model, the new SL500 featured a 5.0-litre V8 engine that generated302bhp. The new model also featured an expanding roll-over bar, a fully electric hood, electric seats, mirrors, anti-lock brakes and a multi-link rear axle.Manufactured in right-hand drive in September 1993 and finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic with Anthracite black leather, the car was internally invoiced to the TUV approval department at the Mercedes-Benz factory for type approval. It is believed there was a model change during this time and the car was selected for approval. After the car had travelled some 2,800 miles it was stored by Mercedes until it left the factory at the start of 2020. It was never registered to anyone and only used by the factory.Having been kept for seventeen years the car required light recommissioning which included a full fluid service and brakes and a new ECU for the roof together with four brand new Michelin tyres amongst other things. The accompanying invoice from Mercedes-Benz main dealer Peter GmbHR of Nordhausen amounts to 1,800. The history file includes the aforementioned invoice, factory replacement handbook and service book together with a print out of the option codes that show internal factory designation codes (860 and 981 hardly ever seen) and the Mercedes-Benz internal data card together with a letter from Mercedes-Benz confirming its right-hand drive status and date of manufacture. A copy of the NOVA and MOT Certificate valid until July 2021 is also included. As the car is unregistered in the UK, the buyer will need to register with the DVLA using the accompanying documentation already prepared. To conclude, this is an unrepeatable opportunity and the car presents as one would imagine and in classic historic SL Mercedes colours. The interior is crisp and still retains its new car smell and it will fit easily into anycollectionor even better, used as intended by an enthusiastic driver. As close as one can get to a new R129.Lot 351 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz SL500 (R129)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfthEiGTFMwfalse
