"Mercedes-Benz first introduced an SL model in 1954 following an original idea by American importer Max Hoffman who foresaw a market for a car tailored to affluent Americans in the booming post war United States. It has remained in production, in various guises and model years in the seven decades since then making the SL the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer.
This stylish looking Mercedes started life as a 380SL in 1983 when it was purchased from Mayfair Mercedes on Park Lane. The car was used as a daily driver by its first owner for the next fifteen years. Around the year 2011 it was decided to treat this convertible to a bare metal restoration. During this process a 5.0 litre engine was fitted. Only 60,00 mils have been covered with this engine. This The car benefits from the rear seat option, a factory hardtop and featured in a 2012 edition of Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine. Our vendor is only the third owner of this luxurious convertible and tells us that it is a joy to drive.
