Description
The replacement to the much-loved Pagoda came in 1971 under the code name R107, and was an instant hit. A much more advanced car than its predecessor, it featured pioneering crash safety features and clean-cut lines which would come to define Mercedes in the years to come.
Amongst the new features was a new range of V8 engines, as it was felt that if the car was to be competitive in the US it would need more than the straight six’s it had previously offered.
The example we have here is the range topping 500, fitted with the 5.0 V8 and the largest power output quoted from a factory R107.
Having been delivered new by Mercedes-Benz Schweiz AG in November of 1982, it has only had 2 owners and driven 62’000km.
It is presented in its factory specification of silver metallic over dark blue leather interior and has recently had a substantial overhaul with Mercedes-Benz classic to make it perfect.
The car comes with its original matching hard-top, and all its original documents.
