This 1981 very well looked after example was supplied from new to its first owner in San Jose, California, the USA. Since 2006 the car has resided in the Netherlands owned by just one person. Most notable about this Mercedes-Benz is its “English Red” finish complimented by “Sienna” leather interior trim, a rarely seen colour combination. This example stands out because of its stylish configuration and extremely good state of its upkeep, both internally and externally.

The inside compliments the outside wonderfully well. It is not only the state of maintenance that catches your eye, it’s also the optional extras like climate control, mid arm rest, tinted glass, cruise control and a Becker radio. The car’s recent service history is known and present. Over the last years the car has been excellently maintained with numerous parts having been preventative replaced to

keep this 380SL in peak condition. The combination of a low mileage and good maintenance make this car drive perfectly.

In the past the car was taken back to bare metal and resprayed in its original color. The bodywork looks fine with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. Both chrome brightwork and hubcaps look great.

Both engine and gearbox have been fully rebuilt, still to good effect. The 3.8 litre straight-six runs silkily smooth developing 215 Ps at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled to a smoothly working 4-speed automatic transmission, suiting the SL’s relaxed driving characteristics.

In the past, the interior trim was reupholstered with a keen eye to the original spec. Both the leather and carpets are therefore in excellent condition. This Mercedes-Benz 380SL has a lovely Sonneland convertible hood. The hood’s condition and fit are perfect.

Besides the good mechanical and physical condition, this 380SL also sports a wonderful amount of documentation. The original bill of sale and the original car wallet are present. All receipts since 2006 have also been kept. These invoices support the reported mileage and mechanical good health of this gorgeous SL.

In short, we are happy to tell you that this is a particularly fine example, with wonderful paperwork, well looked after for many years and will provide its new owner with oodles of pleasure.
