That colour! This Mercedes-Benz 450SL probably has the best finish of the whole R107 generation Mercedes-Benz. The colour: “Pastel Blau” with paint code 922. The “Datenkarte”, the car’s birth certificate, confirms that this is indeed the original colour. Not only has the car’s exterior this lovely blue finish, the theme is carried on in the cabin. The interior trim has blue carpets and fine navy blue leather seat upholstery. The cabin is in lovely original condition. This Mercedes-Benz 450SL saw the light of day on the 14th June 1977 when it was supplied from new by the Californian Stahl Motor Co. Inc. The car remained no less than 31 years in this car-friendly warm climate before crossing the Atlantic to the Netherlands. The car remains in great condition. The car had been re-sprayed for cosmetic reasons keeping its original colour. The bodywork is in fine original condition with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. Underneath the car has been rust-proofed from the Dutch climate. The brightwork adorning the bodywork is also brilliant. The navy blue hood is in fine condition, with only a few light signs of wear, closes securely. As already mentioned the car’s interior has been excellently maintained. The leather is lovely supple and all switches and instruments are in good working order. This car is even equipped with AC. Mechanically this Mercedes-Benz is sound. It has only clocked 114,817 miles in all those years and is still comfortable to drive. The 4,520cc V8 behaves impeccably. The V8 delivers 324Nm at 3,000 revs and 225 Hp at 5,000 revs. The engine is coupled to a 3-speed automatic. This set up makes this a perfect car for touring with a nice amount of grunt at lower revs. The 450SL comes with a complete car wallet, an original tool-kit and jack.
