Description

"The Mercedes-Benz R107 was produced from 1971 through to 1989 and became the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL variant was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top and hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Volume production of the first SL started in April 1971. Of all the engine offerings the 280 remains sought-after with the smaller 2.8 litre engine offering plenty of power but with the advantage of less weight and thus improved handling. The SL Roadster has since become the epitome of what a luxury roadster should look like and can be found from Aberdeen to Antibes and indeed in every corner of the earth and wherever the jet-set congregate.
Originally registered in Monte Carlo in 1982 this one owner Mercedes-Benz SL has seen very little use and records a mere 19,451km on its odometer. This well-equipped example benefits from the well thought out options of factory fitted air conditioning, rear seats, centre armrest and cruise control. Presenting extremely well in gleaming white coachwork and a contrasting black trim, we are informed by the vendor that this Mercedes is a joy to drive. Offered to auction with a file containing various bills and receipts, an original owner’s handbook and a stamped service book. The condition of this car was recently so good that this 280 SL has been on display at the auction venue, the prestigious Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands.
