Vehicle history:
In 1968 this 280 SL pagoda was first registered in the USA. It only recently came back to Europe and was restored in the Netherlands. In Germany, the convertible top was replaced in 2020. The color Fire Engine Red looks fantastic on the car.
Supreme power delivery paired with sporty elegance: the Mercedes-Benz Pagoda presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 caused a sensation, and not just among experts. The 230 SL was the world's first sports car with an innovative safety body. The further developed 280 SL rolled off the production line from 1968 to 1971. When it was launched, the two-seater roadster impressed with its unique comfort, exceptional driving performance and driving safety unprecedented for a sports car. Visually, the inwardly curved, removable coupé roof designed by Paul Braque is reminiscent of the curved roofs of Asian temples - the “pagoda” was born.

1968 wurde diese 280 SL Pagode in dem Hauptmarkt für Pagoden, den USA, erstzugelassen. Erst vor kurzem kam sie zurück nach Europa und wurde in den Niederlanden restauriert. In Deutschland wurde im Jahr 2020 das Verdeck gegen ein neues ausgetauscht. Die Farbe Fire Engine Red oder Signal Rot steht dem Auto hervorragend.
Souveräne Kraftentfaltung gepaart mit sportlicher Eleganz: Die beim Genfer Automobil-Salon im März 1963 vorgestellte Mercedes-Benz Pagode sorgte damals nicht nur bei der Fachwelt für Aufsehen. Der 230 SL war der weltweit erste Sportwagen mit einer innovativen Sicherheitskarosserie. Von 1968 bis 1971 lief der weiterentwickelte 280 SL vom Band. Der zweisitzige Roadster besticht bei seiner Einführung durch einzigartigen Komfort, außergewöhnliche Fahrleistungen und eine für einen Sportwagen noch nie dagewesene Fahrsicherheit. Optisch erinnert das von Paul Braque designte, nach innen gewölbte, abnehmbare Coupé Dach an die geschwungenen Dächer asiatischer Tempel – schon war die „Pagode“ geboren.
