Description
"The 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda is a timeless classic, celebrated for its elegant design and top-notch engineering. Its distinctive, concave hardtop roof resembling a pagoda, and sleek lines evoke a sense of nostalgia and sophistication. Under the hood, a 2.8-litre inline-six engine delivers a blend of power and refinement. The Pagoda's comfortable interior, equipped with modern amenities for its time, reflects the brand's commitment to luxury. This iconic model from Mercedes-Benz remains a symbol of vintage automotive excellence, sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
It is no surprise that this Pagoda presents so well when you discover that it was restored by the Roger Edwards company of Amersham. In a market full of restoration companies, there work is second to none. The list of works undertaken on this car includes the replacement of the floor and both sills, some minor repair work to the chassis legs, repainting and retrimming. This work was completed a number of years ago, but the car retains a freshness as if done recently. The chrome work is in excellent condition throughout and the retrimmed interior is in very good order. This pagoda has only covered some 5,000 miles since this work was completed. The service and repair history for this Pagoda dates back to 1986 and includes tens of thousands of pounds of expenditure. Most of which is confirmed with invoices. This heritage and paperwork should inspire confidence in any prospective buyer.
An odd quirk to this car is the additional rear seat. This is no California Coupé, but the additional side-mounted ‘dicky seat’ behind the front ones, has been carried out to a very high standard. It offers a little more practicality than a standard soft top equipped car... emphasis on little. The interior comfort of this SL has been upped even further by those deep, superb leather pews sporting matching headrests. There’s also a Bluetooth receiver in the standard Becker stereo, allowing you to stream music from your phone, playing it through the car’s speakers without affecting the car’s original, jaw-dropping aesthetics. Finally, there’s also a Sigma alarm fitted, which operates off a key fob. Consigner Dominic Lake
