This Mercedes 280SL was originally delivered in Belgium and has an odometer in kilometres, European headlights and bumpers. What’s very nice is that it is a California special with a rear bench, but without a soft-top.

The engine has matching numbers, it runs nicely and is very powerful. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly. The Papyrus white paintwork was completely renewed. The old paint was fully removed and reapplied. The hardtop is painted in high gloss black. The black leather interior is original and still very beautiful.

The car had a major service, all fluids such as engine oil, gearbox oil, cardan and brake oil were replaced, as well as all filters. The car still has a Belgian registration which is easy to convert to a Dutch one. We can arrange this if needed.

The Mercedes 230SL was introduced in 1963 and had a 2300cc 6-cylinder with 150 hp. The car was soon nicknamed Pagode because of the shape of the hardtop. After all, it resembles the roof of a Chinese temple. It was later followed by the 250SL. This was an intermediate model for Mercedes with 2500cc and 6 cylinders.

Finally, the 280SL was built from 1968 to 1971 with 170 hp, 2800cc and 6 cylinders.
This car may have had 20 hp more, but it was also heavier so the performance remained pretty much the same (the 230 is a bit sportier). The SL came as standard with 4 gears, optional was an automatic gearbox or a 5-speed gearbox from ZF (very rare). In total, almost 49,000 W113 units were built.

The car can be viewed and picked up in Gorinchem, the Netherlands.
