Description

"The 280 SL Roadsters are, without a doubt, the very sweet spot of the Mercedes-Benz model range. They remain affordable despite rapidly increasing values over recent years and are extremely stylish, reliable and competent enough to be used for pleasure on a frequent basis. The elegant and understated styling of these roadsters were penned by designer and artist Paul Bracq, who created its distinctive, patented, slightly concave hardtop, which inspired the 'Pagoda' nickname. The larger capacity 2778cc (2.8 litre) was introduced in 1967 and remained largely unchanged until 1971 and represents the most desirable of all the SL range, producing, as it does, more power with an improved five bearing crankshaft.
This Mercedes-Benz was imported into the UK in March 2019 and presents in its original colour combination of dark red with charcoal interior. Manufactured in lefthand drive format with options including automatic transmission and air conditioning, this delightful Pagoda has undergone a significant amount of restoration work in the US. Upon arriving into the UK, the car had mechanical work carried out including new shock absorbers and a new mohair hood. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 6th August 2020, this is a very well sorted example and one that stands out from the rest."
