Introduced at the 1954 New York International Auto Show, alongside the 300 SL Gullwing, the 190 SL was the brainchild of US Mercedes-Benz importer Max Hoffman.

This attractive 190 SL boasts a documented history and remained in the care of its original owner for over 40 years. The Mercedes-Benz was purchased new in 1961 from Dan Gillum Motors of Reno, Nevada, by local resident Dayton McDonald for $5,406, documented by the original purchase order on file. Originally finished in Fire Engine Red (DB 534), the same color it wears today, it was also fitted with a black hardtop and featured Creme leather upholstery. Records on file document Mr. McDonald’s care for the car over the years. The consignor acquired the 190 SL in 2014 and has spent over $60,000 in mechanical and cosmetic work since then, including a complete repaint, new soft top, new dash upholstery, and other sorting.
