Description
Mercedes-Benz S 55 AMG (2002) in good conditions.
The Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG was the sports division's top-of-the-line sedan until the introduction of the S65 AMG in 2005. This unit was built in May of 2002 and sold new in August of that year in Spain, where it has remained throughout its entire life.
It is painted in Titanite Red over a black leather interior and is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox and putting out 360 horsepower. The car has no modifications from the factory and is in good mechanical condition with a rust free underbody.
Equipment includes the beautiful refinished 18” AMG ‘Monoblock’ wheels, AMG exhaust, Nokia telephone, xenon headlamps, Bose sound system, soft-close doors, front and rear parking sensors, self-dimming mirrors, front and passenger electric seats with memories, heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, automatic headlamps and windshield wipers, self-leveling suspension with sports setting and power-folding mirrors. Safety equipment includes stability control, traction control, dual front airbags, front and rear side airbags, and full-length curtain airbags.
The car has not been in any reported accidents and still maintains the original headlights, taillamps and radiator. The current owner acquired the car in April 2023 and has since added 5000 of the 160,000 kilometers on the odometer. This unit has full MOT records that give out consistent mileage readings throughout the history of the car as well as complete maintenance records from 2018 onwards.
The M113 engine these S55s have is one of the most reliable modern Mercedes engines and the same can be said about the 722.6 five-speed automatic gearbox. A full overhaul of the ABC hydropneumatic suspension was done at an official dealership by the previous owner in 2019 and the system should remain fault free for years to come. This S55 AMG got a full service done in June of 2023 and four new tyres were installed.
Cosmetically, it’s got minor scrapes and dings on the bodywork, the largest one (on the boot) is highlighted in one of the pictures as is a scrape on the underside of the front bumper. All features in the car function properly with the exception of the soft-close on the driver-side door. The car comes with two working keys.
Overall, the car is in very good condition and remains one of the most affordable - and impressive - ways to make your entry into the AMG sub-brand.
Good condition: visible signs of wear and general ageing
