Put on the road on 16 July 1979, this car has had just one owner from new: Mercedes-Benz France. Used as a demonstration car, it has never left the marque's fleet and has been regularly maintained to a high standard, as recorded in the stunning accompanying file. It is presented in the original colour, anthracite grey (reference 172G), with the original blue velours upholstery. Following a theft and having suffered some deterioration, the car was restored in 1986 and comes with sunroof, ABS, air-conditioning and a Becker Europa radio. The odometer shows a mileage of just over 131 600 km. It has the original engine and there are no signs of any irregularities in the engine bay. Inside, the left rear seat sags slightly, but otherwise the interior is well preserved. The dashboard and central console are in excellent condition. The car will be delivered with an important folder which will include: the stamped up to date service book, the owner's manual, new bill of sale, manufacturers' records, as well as an inspection report carried out in 2015. The maintainance is up to date, the car was serviced in 2017 by the manufacturer and the important invoice is available in the folder.

With its 286 bhp 6.9-litre V8 engine, the 450 SEL was one of the fastest saloons of its day, and very popular with racing drivers. Just 7 380 examples were built and it remains an exceptional machine today, offering high levels of performance and comfort. This example has the added bonus of an absolutely continuous history with a special provenance.
