Description

"The Mercedes-Benz W114/W115 was the mid-sized saloon model, positioned below the S-Class between 1968 and 1976. Mercedes also launched its first five-cylinder diesel engine in this chassis for the American market. It followed heavily in the direction set by the W108/109 S-Class, which was launched in 1965 and heralded the new design idiom. The car was designed by French auto designer Paul Bracq who was chief designer at Mercedes-Benz for models from 1957 to 1967, a period that included models such as the Grosser Mercedes-Benz 600. Bracq was also responsible for BMW designs (1970 to 1974) and Peugeot designs (1974 to 1996). The 250 model was introduced in 1968 fitted with M114, 2.5 litre, six-cylinder engine. In 1970 this was replaced with the M130, 2.8 litre six-cylinder engine which continued until the model was replaced by the W123 model in 1976.
This good left hand drive, 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250 S was imported to the UK by the current owner in 2010 after he purchased the car in New York, USA. During his ownership the vendor has completed just over 5,000 miles but has had the car fully maintained, it had a major service carried out in 2020, less than 1,000 miles ago and had the rear brakes overhauled in 2015. The car is presented with a high specification including an automatic gearbox, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning which is currently not working. It was also supplied with alloy wheels which have been replaced with steel wheels but are being supplied with the car. Finished in cream with dark brown interior, this 250 S is supplied with a V5 registration document, copies of the US title documents and invoices for work carried out in the UK. This represents a very original example of the ever-popular early Mercedes-Benz saloon.
