Description

"The debut vehicle for this line was the 300 CE-24 Cabriolet, built until 1993 until it was succeeded by the E320 Cabriolet which became a classic in its own right. What is more, it had the potential to become a genuine piece of automotive history since its production period was relatively brief and numbers built were relatively low. The design stems from their four-door counterparts with modern features such as the eccentric sweep panoramic windscreen wiper, independent suspension and highly advanced safety systems. These were also disguised roll-over hoops in the event of an accident. If unextended, they automatically deployed in 0.3 seconds if sensors detected an 'unusual angle of attack'. The convertible roof stowed away under a rear panel leaving nothing above the body to disturb the cabriolet form.
This 1996 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Cabriolet was the dealer demonstrator for Jacksons of Guernsey. After being sold it remained in the same family ownership until 2016 when it was imported to the UK. This example is fully loaded with all the extras including air-conditioning, electric steering column, wood/leather steering wheel, ARS, cruise control and electric heated seats. It has only covered 62,000 miles from new which is confirmed with a full Mercedes-Benz service history with the last service being carried out in January 2016. Finished in black with black roof and grey leather interior, this E320 is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2019, the handbook pack which includes all the manuals which were supplied when the car was new and a file of invoices dating back to 2002. This desirable Sportline model is a delight to drive and has the flexibility of being a very useable, everyday convertible. Back in 2006, 'Honest John', an impartial and highly experienced motoring journalist, described this model as 'a beautiful and appreciating classic.'"
