Description

Building on its well-regarded W124 platform, Mercedes-Benz catered to speed enthusiasts with the AMG 3.4 CE, a highly tuned version of the “300 CE-24” coupé that is understood to have been limited to just 25 models—all of which were left-hand drive. The AMG-tuned, naturally aspirated, 3.4-litre, inline, six-cylinder engine, rated at 270 bhp at 6,500 rpm, was revered for its thrilling performance and represented a marked improvement over the standard 300 CE.

This 300 CE AMG 3.4 was delivered new to AMG Japan in August 1991, who subsequently carried out the full AMG conversion to make the car what it is today. Under the bonnet, the venerable M104 inline six was over-bored to 3.4-litres and the crank upgraded to increase stroke, whilst bespoke AMG camshafts improved top-end performance, unlocking an extra 40 bhp and bringing total output to 270 bhp.

The body was also adorned with the full body-coloured ‘widebody’ kit, featuring flared wheel arches, staggered 16” & 17” three-piece deep-dish Aero III AMG split-rim wheels by OZ Racing, rear spoiler, and deep front air dam with fog lights.

The interior benefits from upgraded Recaro heated and electronically adjustable ‘Ideal C’ Classic seats with retractable seatbelt ‘helpers’, factory-fitted ‘Tempomatic’ air conditioning, AMG steering wheel, gear knob, and AMG white 300km/h instrument cluster.

The car remained in Japan until 2016, until it was purchased by the former owner and imported to Switzerland to join a prominent collection of pre-merger AMG models. Purchased by the current owner from the collection in 2020 via DK Engineering, this example has since been used sparingly residing within a small collection in our care. Since taking ownership, the car has been treated to a major service replacing all fluids and filters. Further works included the replacement of suspension bushes, tyres and perished rubbers came to a total of £9,500.

Finished in the traditional and timeless colour scheme of Brilliant Silver over a black leather interior, this is the ultimate incarnation of the six-cylinder W124 C-Class, presented in exceptional condition throughout.

Now UK registered, this stunning example is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately, awaiting its next custodian.
