Description
"Mercedes-Benz introduced the W123 four-door versions in January 1976 and, while there were some technical similarities to their predecessors, the new models were larger in wheelbase and exterior dimensions. The styling was also updated, although stylistic links with the W115 were maintained. In September 1982, all models received a mild facelift which included the rectangular headlights, previously only fitted to the 280/280E which were standardised across the board as was power steering. Since February 1982, an optional five speed manual transmission was available in all models. Optional extras included MB-Tex upholstery, velour or leather upholstery, interior wood trim, passenger side exterior mirror, five speed manual gearbox, four speed automatic gearbox, electric windows, vacuum powered central locking, sun roof, air conditioning, climate control, Alpine horn, headlamp wipers, cruise control, power steering, seat heating and catalytic converter for the US markets and later European models. Power assisted disc brakes were standard on all W123’s. This excellent 280 TE estate was supplied new ‘fully loaded’ with all the available factory extras including seven seats, air conditioning, ABS brakes, cruise control, sunroof, illuminating vanity mirrors and Becker radio and cassette player. Serviced in August 2018, the car was thoroughly checked through again in December when the valve stem seals were replaced and five new tyres were fitted. Recent bills show that over £2,500 has been spent on the car. Finished in Cypress Green metallic with Mushroom leather interior, this 280 TE is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in August 2019, owner’s manual and a large file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates going back to 1997. The robust W123 series Mercedes-Benz is now widely regarded as a very practical, reliable, classic car and the estate can accommodate the entire family and the dog."
